ECCC Wrap Up
Saturday was a long day. It started at 6am, after sleeping on a crappy futon all night. Why you ask? Since I was doing portfolio reviews, and signings, I didnt want to drag my two boys to Seattle, for them to sit and be bored for hours on end. Besides, my oldest got himself grounded, which put a huge damper on my original plans. So, I asked Grandma to come stay the night and watch the boys for me
.so I gave her my warm, comfortable, cozy bed
..and I took the crappy couch
.besides, it was Mothers day weekend, I HAD to be nice -

.so anyway, I get up at 6am, jump in the shower, and hit the road about 6:40 (after getting coffee, and gas). Two hours and 45 minutes later, I arrive at the Washington State Convention Center in Seattle. Dumb luck would have it, that I parked about 500 ft from the entrance into the center from the parking garage. More dumb luck, where I came in, was 500 ft from the escalator to head up stairs where the convention was taking place. I had brought with me a tote with prints/sketchbooks, and my art case that had all my pencils/pens/paper in it it wasnt heavy, just awkward to carry all that crap. Anyway, I arrive outside of the entrance, to a slew of people. I got on my cell, and called Darren Davis of Bluewater Productions, who had my badge so I didnt have to wait in line nice
.I know. So by 9:30 I was inside the center, had dropped off my art supplies at the Bluewater booth, and my tote of other crap at the Space Goat booth. After visiting for a few, I headed to artist alley to track down friends before the show. Jack Stepp, Jason Martin, Jason Metcalf, Jacob Bear, Levi Skeen, Ben Hansen, GW Fisher, just to name a few and then there were a couple other freaks, like Fooray and Mechangel (Diana) who were camped out at the Ronin Booth. And then kiddie corner from them were the Zenescope people, in which I harassed Nei for a bit awesome colorist, and great person at that not to mention, really cute Blondes a lucky guy. From there I headed back to the Bluewater booth for a bit, before having to go do Portfolio Reviews.
The Reviews: So, the whole point of the Talent Search/Portfolio Reviews was to find new talent
..and honestly, I dont think that that was conveyed very well. I reviewed a couple kids (under the age of 15) portfolios, in which they were KIDS
.so I gave them as many pointers as I could, and sent them on their way. Another was an aspiring young artist, that just wanted to get advice and pointers, so I did the best that I could. I didnt keep any of their portfolios and I could tell they were heart broken, and I tried to let them down as easily as possible, but man it was tough. There was one person that I reviewed that had some legitimate potential as a penciler. The kid was good. Very good. So hopefully something will happen with him. There were a couple inkers that I reviewed their portfolios as well
..but I dont think the message was conveyed very well about the TALENT part
..seriously. Eh, it was fun. It was rather fun sitting in front of all these wide eyed people, being intimidating as hell, since we had this temporary

ower to crush dreams
.LOL
After the reviews, I went back to the Bluewater booth to do some signings, and sketches for the next hour and a half
.which was fun. After that, I went and made my rounds to say goodbye, since I had to get back home to relieve Grandma and it was a 3 hour drive home
..so, it was an extremely long day but fun.
Next stop Spokane Comic Con on June 7th another one day show
.only this one is 5 hours away
..good times
..
