Tonight was a fun game to watch - nerve racking as hell, but fun none the less. I arrived at the game just in time to see my son walking gingerly towards first - got pegged with a ball - he'll feel that in the morning, I'm sure. The field is an hour across town, and of course rush hour traffic on a friday night is even more brutal, but luckily, I only missed the first inning.

Our kids were up 3-2 when I got there, and then went up 5-2 at the end of the 2nd. The other team battled back to tie it at 5,and that's were it stayed...through the 4th, the 5th, and 6th inning. Now normally, the game would be over at the end of the 6th, but since its the playoffs, and it was still tied they kept going.

Top of the 7th, we got a hit, but then went three and out....the bottom of the 7th....first kid up, hit a double...and then a walk, then....one of the prettiest plays of the day. Pop fly to center field, caught, thrown to the pitcher, and then to home, to get the out! Such a pretty play....it was touch and go there for a while, but then they got the third out - still tied at 5.

Top of the 8th....first kid up to bat, hammers a double...yes! Next kid....knocks it out of the park....literally - a 2 run homer - and then we were able to get another run in - now we are up 8-5....three outs, and the kids are going to the finals....

they let one run in, but then left three guys on base, to steal the win....the kids are on thier way....Championship game tomorrow 10am.....what a ride.
